Marcelo Hidalgo has over 27 years of experience in aquaculture and the seafood supply chain, advising major companies, NGOs, and governments on responsible sourcing and sustainability. He is currently COO of the Fishing Industry Association in Papua New Guinea and founder of Seafoodmatter.

Jorge Pérez-Bouzada

Marine Instruments

Veterinarian by training with a strong background in the fishing and aquaculture sectors. Jorge is the Sustainable Fishing Director at Marine Instruments, where he leads strategic sustainability initiatives. He previously served as General Director of Amerger Casamance (Senegal), part of the S.A. Eduardo Vieira fishing group. He holds an Executive MBA from IE Business School and a Master’s in International Business from the University of Reading (UK).

Pablo Rodríguez Cordovés

Managing Director of Hermasa Canning Technology, a company specialising in the design and manufacture of automatic machinery and advanced technological solutions for the tuna and sardine canning industry at an international level, with a presence in more than 70 countries. Trained as an Industrial Engineer at the University of Vigo, he completed his engineering and management studies with a Master in Management, Innovation and Technology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also holds an Executive MBA from the Quantic School of Business and Technology.

Katarina Sipic

Katarina serves as the Secretary General of AIPCE.CEP since 2020, the European Association of Fish Processors and Traders. The association's efforts in Brussels focus on shaping the EU policy and legislation impacting the sector. AIPCE.CEP represents 15 national associations from 9 EU Member States, the UK, and Norway, which collectively encompass over 3,900 businesses and 128,000 jobs. Her background includes previous experience with the Spanish Association of Wholesalers, Importers, Exporters and Manufacturers of Fishery and Aquaculture Products.

Rafael Piñero

A native of Cádiz, Rafael Piñero holds a degree in Journalism from the University of Seville and in Advertising and Public Relations from the University of Cádiz, as well as a master’s degree in Business and Institutional Communication Management from the University of Seville. With extensive academic and professional experience in the field of communication, since joining Mercadona he has focused his career on the corporate and institutional sphere.

Clara Burillo Feduchi

Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF)

Clara is EJF’s Ocean Advocacy Officer in Spain, where she leads advocacy strategies to promote marine protection and transparency in fisheries. She heads EJF’s work on labour rights in the fishing sector, applying an environmental justice approach and working with policymakers, the fishing industry, and civil society to help build sustainable and fair seafood supply chains. She is qualified to practise law in Spain and holds a Master’s degree in Transnational Law from King’s College London, with a specialisation in human rights and environmental law. Prior to joining EJF, she worked as a legal and public policy advisor for EU institutions and international organisations.

Gustavo Vinicio Núñez Márquez

Ecuadorian entrepreneur with over 45 years of experience in key sectors including oil, cement, and tuna. Founder of ASISERVY S.A., he has led numerous companies through the successful implementation of operational strategies that boosted productivity and profitability. He held senior roles at the Ecuadorian State Oil Corporation and Grupo Cemento Nacional, and has chaired various social and environmental foundations in Ecuador.

– Currently promotes projects with economic and social impact, aligning business vision with a personal commitment to family legacy.

Liesbeth Unger

Human Rights at Work

International human rights lawyer and founder of Human Rights at Work, a consultancy specialized in business and human rights.

With over twenty years of experience, she advises large and medium-sized companies on how to identify, prioritize, and address human rights risks, particularly in the global supply chain. Her work focuses on helping businesses implement effective due diligence strategies to tackle issues such as forced labour.

Based in The Hague, the Netherlands, in 2025 she authored a key report for the Dutch government that supports companies and the administration in preparing for the EU Forced Labour Regulation.

Antonio Sánchez

S.P.A. International Food Group, Co. Ltd.

Originally from the Canary Islands (Spain), he has developed a solid international career in the seafood sector, as well as extensive experience after having lived in several countries in Africa, in Portugal, the United Kingdom, and in Asia, where he has been residing for the past 21 years.

In 2010, he joined the Thai tuna manufacturer, S.P.A.International Food Group, Co. Ltd., as Global Sales Director, leading commercial operations in key global markets. His international vision and deep knowledge of the sector make him a respected figure in the industry.

Gianluca Agostini

BOLTON FOOD

With 25 years of experience at the Bolton Group, Gianluca Agostini has held key positions in finance and control across various divisions of the group, in both local and international settings.

In 2015, he joined Bolton Food as CFO, leading the global financial management of the FMCG brands business, as well as operations of plants and fleets. In 2019, he moved to Tri Marine, overseeing finance, control, and HR as Group CFO & CHRO.

Since 2024, he has served as Chief Procurement & Trading Officer of Bolton Food, managing the global tuna and multi-species trading business, along with the company’s procurement of ingredients, oils, packaging, and supplies. He is also a board member of ISSA.

Danilo Cotrino

Marketing professional with a specialization in International Relations and over 30 years of experience in the food industry, with a strong focus on the canned fish category in Latin America. Throughout his career, he has led the design and implementation of successful distribution models across various markets.

He currently serves as Country Manager of Bolton Food in Colombia, overseeing the development and positioning of both commercial and private label brands in the country.

David Ellis

TUNA AUSTRALIA

David has 30 years of experience in the Australian tuna sector, spanning fishing, tuna farming, research management, and industry representation. He is the CEO of Tuna Australia, which represents longline tuna fishing companies before national and international bodies.

His leadership has been recognized with several awards, and he has achieved Marine Stewardship Council certification for multiple species, positioning Australia as a global benchmark in tuna sustainability. He has also driven improvements in crew safety and the management of interactions with marine wildlife.

His profile stands out for his work in industry advocacy, research coordination, strategic planning, business development, and high-level negotiations.

Gemma Meermans

INFOFISH

Gemma Meermans Matainaho, a Papua New Guinean national, is currently Acting Director of INFOFISH, an intergovernmental organization providing marketing and technical advisory services for fishery products in the Asia-Pacific region.

Before joining INFOFISH, she worked for 15 years as a senior officer at Papua New Guinea’s National Fisheries Authority. With strong expertise in fisheries trade, marketing, and international business, she has played a key role in developing and implementing strategies in close collaboration with industry stakeholders.

Gemma holds a Master’s in International Business from Monash University (Australia) and a Bachelor of Economics (Business Studies) from the University of Papua New Guinea. She is a firm advocate for sustainable fisheries and their socio-economic impact through global partnerships.

Julio Morón

OPAGAC / AGAC

Julio Morón holds a PhD in Biological Sciences. He began his career as an onboard observer on fishing vessels in the South and Central Atlantic, later working for the FAO in Sri Lanka and for the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO) in Seychelles.

He is the Managing Director of the Organization of Associated Producers of Large Freezer Tuna Vessels (OPAGAC / AGAC). He currently also serves as President of the Spanish Fishing Confederation (CEPESCA) and is a Corresponding Member of the Royal Academy of the Sea.

Benoît Barba, Co-Director of Groupe Barba, oversees all international purchasing activities. His expertise spans global markets, currency management, pricing, and logistics. Having started his career at a young age in the family’s processing plant, he learned the trade hands-on, working directly with the products and the teams, and developed an in-depth knowledge of fish and its transformation. This field experience gives him a rare perspective: combining the strategic precision of international markets with a relentless focus on quality. Guided by a five-generation family legacy, he continues to uphold traditional know-how while preparing for the future.

With over 17 years at EFCA, Dr. Patricia Sánchez Abeal is Deputy Head of Unit Strategy and Cooperation, overseeing strategic processes, international relations, and coast guard cooperation. She holds a PhD in Global Communication and Sustainability, along with Master’s degrees in EU International Relations and International Business. In 2025, she was named among the Top 50 Women in Spain for the Leadership Programme by Santander Open Academy and the London School of Economics.

Patricia Sánchez-Abeal

European Fisheries Control Agency (EFCA)

An Industrial Engineer (ICAI) with over 25 years of experience in the FMCG sector, he began his career at Nielsen Spain, working with leading retailers such as Carrefour, Mercadona, Sephora, and Gadisa. He later served as General Manager of Conxemar before moving into consulting. Since 2015, as SVP at NielsenIQ, he has led global solutions in price, promotion, assortment, and space optimization across both physical and e-commerce channels.

Dr. Sandra Rellán holds a PhD in Analytical and Food Chemistry, a Master’s in Environmental and Food Sciences, and a degree in Chemistry from the University of Vigo. With 20 years of experience in R&D&I across the food and biotech sectors, she has worked in both private companies and public research centers. Since 2007, she has been part of ANFACO-CYTMA, where she currently coordinates the R&D&I Area, leading innovation management and technology transfer initiatives at national and international levels.

Iván Alonso-Jáudenes Curbera represents the fifth generation leading Conservas Antonio Alonso S.A., owner of the historic brand Palacio de Oriente. He joined the company in 1999, advancing through key roles in Procurement and Operations before becoming CEO. With a career fully devoted to the seafood sector in Spain, the U.S., and the U.K., he was elected President of ANFACO-CYTMA in 2020 and re-elected in 2024.

With 30 years of experience in market information and communications, Lê Hằng has spent over a decade at Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade and more than 20 years at the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP). Since 2008, she has led VASEP’s Information, Data & Communications Department, overseeing key publications and digital platforms. A regular speaker at international forums on Vietnam’s seafood industry, she specializes in shrimp, pangasius, tuna, and other marine products. She also chairs VASEP’s Marine Products Committee, which includes the Vietnam Tuna Club.

With extensive experience in the food industry, Jairo Gund is the Executive Director of the Brazilian Association of Fish Industries (ABIPESCA), which brings together the country’s leading seafood companies. Throughout his career he has led industrial management projects of high performance and innovation, including the development of Brazil’s first fish processing Industry 4.0. Between 2019 and 2022, he held several positions in the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, culminating as National Secretary of Aquaculture and Fisheries.

Jairo Gund

Pierre Commère has over 31 years of experience in tuna processing and trade as general delegate for the French canned fish sector FIAC, strongly involved in the post Cotonou tuna trade development between EU and African countries in West Africa and the Indian Ocean. Pierre is a key figure in the French seafood industry, having served as General Delegate for the seafood processing sector at Pact’alim for 31 years, covering inter alia the fish canning / tuna canning sector. He is also Vice President of AIPCE, the European Association of Fish Processors, and secretary of the General Assembly of EUROTHON. In 2023, he was appointed as Chair of the fish trade Working Group at the EU Market Advisory Council, reinforcing his influence on European seafood policies.

Roberto Alonso is Secretary General of ANFACO-CYTMA, where he represents and defends the interests of Spain’s seafood processing industry. An Industrial Engineer with a Master’s in Industrial Innovation and Process Optimization and executive training at Stanford University, he plays an active role in European advisory councils (LDAC, MAC, CCSUD) and industry associations, currently serving as Vice President of AIPCE and President of EUROTHON. He also holds leadership roles in national federations and contributes to innovation initiatives such as PTEPA and HUB Datalife.

Bill Holden is the Senior Tuna Fisheries Outreach Manager at the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), the global fisheries certification and ecolabel program. He joined the organization in 2009 and is based in Sydney, Australia, where he develops policies and strategies for global tuna fisheries and leads outreach activities across the Pacific and Indian Oceans. With over 20 years of experience as an owner, operator, and skipper of snapper and tuna longliners in the Kingdom of Tonga, he brings extensive knowledge of fishing and marketing operations. His work with industry associations and his wide Pacific network of colleagues and partners have made him a key figure in regional tuna fisheries management.
